Aims, scope and review policy
Since its foundation in 1943 the readers of HTS Teologiese Studies / Theological Studies have been academic theologians, scholars in the field of the humanities and social sciences, professional pastors/ministers of religion and academically oriented readers interested in religious matters. The journal covers theology in its broadest sense and therefore publishes articles linked with a variety of other study fields and has a multi-disciplinary, multi-church, inter-faith, and multi-religious focus and scope. Articles cover, among others, aspects of religious studies, philosophy, ancient Semitic and classical languages, sociology and ethics. HTS Teologiese Studies / Theological Studies is committed to the capacity building of young scholars. Papers are peer reviewed to ensure that the contents are understandable, valid, important, interesting and enjoyed. All manuscripts must be submitted online. All articles in HTS Teologiese Studies / Theological Studies will be double blind peer reviewed.
The following contributions are accepted (word counts exclude abstracts, tables and references):

Publishing with open access is not without costs. OpenJournals Publishing defrays those costs from APF, because it does not have subscription charges for its research content, believing instead that immediate, world-wide, barrier-free, open access to the full text of research articles is in the best interests of the scientific community and the public at large.
The submitting author is responsible for the payment of the APF. The submitting author must confirm, at the time of submission, that they will organize payment should the article be accepted for publication. This responsibility may not be delegated to any third party unless agreed to by the publisher.
Following peer review, once a manuscript has received editorial acceptance in principle, the APF becomes payable, and formatting checks (copyediting, layout editing and proofreading) on the manuscript will commence. Once these are completed, and full payment of the APF has been received, the article will be published.
The APF is due within at most 30 days of the manuscript receiving editorial acceptance in principle. Payment can be made by Credit Card Payment, Electronic Funds Transfer, or Check.
Prompt payment is advised, as the article will not be published until full payment is received. If payment is done by electronic funds transfer from a non-South African bank account, the submitting author will be responsible for any bank transfer charges at the time of the transaction. In all cases a receipt will be sent by email once payment has been received.
The APF for this journal is R213.00 [excluding VAT] per A4 output page in PDF format. This APF will be valid for the calendar year 2010 and may be changed at any time in the sole discretion of the publisher.
Authors may apply for waiver of APF, which may be granted in the sole discretion of the publisher. It is our policy that APF should not prevent the publication of any exceptionally worthy work.
