Prof Dr Johan Buitendag is Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Pretoria since 2004 and chairperson of the editorial board of HTS Theological Studies. He is an ordained minister of the Netherdutch Reformed Church of Africa and studied in Erlangen, Germany for his doctorate during 1984-5. He obtained his DD in Systematic Theology and Christian Ethics from the University of Pretoria in 1985 and his MCom in Business Management in 1995 from the University of Johannesburg. He was appointed as professor in Systematic Theology and Christian Ethics at the University of Pretoria in 2001 and Head of the Department in 2008. Professor Buitendag is the author of 27 scholarly articles and contributed to 6 theological books. He was the Moderator of the Netherdutch Reformed Church of Africa during 2004-2007. Professor Buitendag is member of the SA Academy for Science and Arts, AAR, IRTI and the Dogmatological Society of South Africa. Languages of Preference: Afrikaans, English, German, Dutch
